Role Overview

Solar/BESS Technician II

A Solar/BESS Technician II maintains, repairs and optimizes utility‑scale solar PV and battery storage facilities. They inspect, test and service inverters/PCS units and BESS containers to keep systems running safely and efficiently. They also troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues to reduce downtime and support reliable energy production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed field interventions and system diagnostics for utility-scale Solar and BESS assets.
  • Implement performance optimization strategies to maximize energy conservation and asset efficiency.
  • Conduct regular maintenance schedules while strictly adhering to Power Cell and Customer safety and quality protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze performance data and identify conservation opportunities.
  • Perform DC Health Activities in Solar Arrays
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures
  • Maintain a high Safety Standard on all projects
  • Maintain precise technical documentation of all system modifications and repairs.
     

Education and Experience

  • • High School Diploma
    • Minimum 2 years in Solar PV or electrical
    • OSHA or NFPA70E certification
    • Proficiency in Inverters and BESS
    • Knowledge in PV panel and PV combiner components
  • Knowledge of SCADA, UPS, and tools
  • • Understanding of electrical theory

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs independently.
  • Willingness to work in varying outdoor weather conditions, including hot or cold environments.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods during field interventions.
  • Availability for travel to remote project sites as required.
